About
Welcome to Nadas - Rainbow Gluten Free Empanadas, a vibrant culinary haven nestled in the heart of New York City at 48 Greenwich Ave. Here, the humble empanada is elevated to an art form, celebrating flavors that are as bold as they are delicious, and crafted entirely gluten-free, making it a safe choice for anyone with gluten intolerance or celiac disease.
As I stepped into Nadas, I was immediately captivated by its lively aesthetic and rainbow-themed decor, reflecting the colorful assortment of empanadas that beckoned from behind the counter. The ambiance is cozy, albeit intimate, with limited seating that adds a charming touch to this small gem of a spot. Just glancing at the menu gets the taste buds tingling with excitement—each empanada seems to tell a story of creativity and passion.
The empanadas themselves are the true stars of the show. If you're pondering what to indulge in first, I wholeheartedly recommend the mango and pork—a customer favorite that delivers a delightful balance of sweet and savory. The sauce perfectly complements the empanada, as noted by many patrons. For a vegetarian twist, the spinach and cheese option stands out, offering a melting center that simply delights with every bite.
While fans rave about the traditional flavors, the guava and cheese empanada is a standout that brings a sweet finish to your meal, capturing the essence of comfort food with an innovative twist. And for those who crave something a tad different, the vegan chorizo option is available, although it might fall a bit shy of the vibrant flavor profile offered by its counterparts.
Another highlight of Nadas is the outstanding service and the affordability of the dishes. Enthusiastic reviews from satisfied customers emphasize the restaurant's reasonable price points—a rare find in this bustling neighborhood! Many also mention the option to take home frozen empanadas, perfect for a quick and delicious snack during busy days.
Whether you're a gluten-free aficionado or simply curious about trying something new, Nadas promises not just a meal but an experience that leaves a lasting impression. Don't miss the chance to indulge in these fantastic empanadas; after all, as one happy customer put it, “You should absolutely try this hidden gem.”
In summary, if you're wandering the streets of New York and craving something unique yet deeply satisfying, make your way to Nadas - Rainbow Gluten Free Empanadas. Your palate will thank you.
“ Awesome gluten free spot! Small space with really delicious and creative empanadas! We came because our 4yo can’t eat wheat and really exceeded my expectations! So yummy. Should’ve bought some frozen ones to take home ”
“ Good size empanadas at a reasonable price point, which is very hard to find in this neighborhood. The mango and pork was very good especially with a bit of hot sauce. Seating was rather limited but it could accommodate two people ”
“ Fantastic empanadas. Highly recommend– especially the mango pork!! The sauce they come with is amazing. And everything is gluten free, so it is safe for anyone with gluten intolerance or celiac. ”
“ Must try! The guava and the spinach are my favorites. It was so good I had to take some to prepare at home, The traditional Colombian juices are great too. ”
“ Nadas was great! I really liked the aesthetics and rainbow design of the store. The food was tasty, it was affordable, customer service was good, the empanadas actually fill you up, they were gluten free, and my empanadas also came out fairly quickly. I really loved the spinach and cheese empanada I tried as well as the guava and cheese empanada. You could really taste the melting cheese in it. However, the vegan chorizo was very mild and bland in comparison to the other two flavors. I suggest everyone to get the guava and spinach empanadas to try out. Also when I went, it wasn’t crowded at all, which I liked! There weren’t that many customers going in. I like small hidden gem shops like this, I’m a huge advocate for places like this that taste good and are affordable, as well as not crowded. Price: 3.75 Rating: 9/10 ”
“ 4/10/2023, Monday: I picked up a variety of the Nadas empanadas in the west village on Greenwich Ave just north of 10th st, and east of 7th ave in NYC. It was already packaged even though I'd prefer to take it in my stainless steel restaurant prep containers to avoid the packaging. This food venue is famous for the gluten-free corn based fried empanadas cooked as they are in Colombia and come with a hot Aji red sauce to dip them in. I received most of the color varieties, and the website lists the type / flavor and ingredients for each type. Some are meat based, and others are vegan, and others vegetarian, and some cheese or egg based. ”
“ These empanadas are exceptional. We love basically every flavor we've tried (which is most of them), especially the mango pork and chorizo & cheese. We come here basically as often as we find ourselves in the neighborhood—sometimes making special trips just for Nadas—and have never had a bad experience. The hot sauce is amazing, the fresh juices are also very good, and everything is gluten free. The storefront is small, with only a couple of seats by the window and a table or two on the sidewalk. But this doesn't really matter because the empanadas are always much too hot to eat right away; better to walk to a park and find a nice shady spot to eat after letting them cool for 5 minutes or so. They also sell their empanadas frozen, which are easy to heat in an air fryer or oven. Truly one of our favorite spots in all of the city for several years now, absolutely 5/5. ”
“ I’ve heard about Nadas delicious gluten free empanadas before, so I had to try them out while I was in the Village. I live empanadas and try any I can when I see them. The shop itself is just a walk up to the counter and order, but the lady at the counter was nice. I only ordered one empanada as I had just eaten breakfast so I got it for lunch for later. I got the Chorizo and Cheese empanada. I didn’t eat it until later in the day, but it was still delicious. At first thought when I took it out of the bag was that it was small, but it was super filling and packed with great flavor. For the price next time I will definitely get more, but probably would only need two for a full lunch. Will definitely go back and bring others to try them as well. ”
